"As a long time space news reporter, Specific Impulse was riveting. I had to keep reminding myself it was fiction and I couldn't actually interview these people. What a story!"

The fates of two strangers become irrevocably intertwined in the aftermath of an strange explosion and time quickly begins to run out in Specific Impulse(published by iUniverse), the new smart, fast-paced thriller by Charles Justiz that has already caught the eye of many critics and readers.

When an unexpected explosion hits modern-day Earth, it’s initially rumored to be from a meteoroid or meteorite. Everyone in its radius is killed, with the exception of two people: Carin Gonzales, a former Air Force pilot and space scientist; and Jake Sabio, a former submarine commander.

As they recover from their initial shock, Carin and Jake begin to experience some interesting, unpredictable side effects. Sometimes their hearing will be incredibly sensitive, other times eyesight becomes unbelievably crystal clear. They’ll be able to move with a grace and power heretofore unknown to them and injuries will mysteriously heal within minutes.

Carin and Jake come to the alarming realization that these new powers are part of an infection caused by the explosion; an infection that is slowly killing them. The Centers for Disease Control have been informed of the situation and want to lock them up for observation, and a contract killer has much more deadly intentions. There seems to be no cure for the infection – at least not on Earth – and more than one person wants Jake and Carin dead. Do they stand a chance?

Praise for Specific Impulse:

“A book that grabs you from the beginning and never lets up from start to finish.”
