Online study provides a flexible, cost effective means of achieving an internationally recognised qualification for the student who wants to take control of how and when they study

The UK’s leading provider of online courses in art and design, the Interactive Design Institute (IDI), launches their new website on May 13th. Previously known as the Studio Art School before achieving institutional status in 2008, IDI are a collaborative partner of the University of Hertfordshire and specialise in delivering university courses to UK and international students through distance learning.

IDI’s range of diploma and degree level qualifications includes Graphic design (http://www.idesigni.co.uk/subjects/graphic-design), Interior design and Photography courses (http://www.idesigni.co.uk/subjects/photography), all of which can be studied at home.

Ian Ritchie CBE, Chairman of the Interactive Design Institute commented: “Online study provides a flexible, cost effective means of achieving an internationally recognised qualification for the student who wants to take control of how and when they study. As an increasing number of universities increase their tuition fees it makes sense to choose to study online and gain the same qualification for less than half the cost of the attendance based equivalent”.

Founded in 2004 by four former further education managers, the Interactive Design Institute is at the forefront of the development of online education in Art and Design. With students from 45 countries worldwide their experience of delivering degree level qualifications online is unparalleled. With its team of well qualified and experienced tutors, the Interactive Design Institute is ideally placed to provide the highest level of guidance, support and advice to all their students.

Students with IDI are provided with secure access to their own online studio where they can access comprehensive study materials and upload examples of their creative work. Subject related issues are discussed on a one to one basis with personal tutors, who provide students with regular expert advice, encouragement and critical feedback. With response times guaranteed to be within 24 hours, IDI students receive first class, professional feedback on their work from their tutors, all of whom are subject practitioners, and many of whom have industry related experience . Interaction with fellow students takes place within online forums.

Qualifications awarded by UK institutions are highly regarded throughout the world and a UK degree can be a student’s passport to a successful career in the design industry. IDI are fully aware that as the only educational institute in the UK able to deliver art and design qualifications online, they have a responsibility to ensure their students maintain this high standard.

“The Interactive Design Institute is subject to the same rigorous quality control procedures as all providers of university courses and we are proud of the positive feedback we have received from all our external assessors and students” says Arlene Stewart, Director of Academic Services.

Webmaster Jill Russell added “Our new site is designed to simplify the application process and give people more direct access to the information they need. We’ve updated our gallery and included a movie which shows what some of our current students say about their experience of studying with us. Our study website will continue to provide the same high standard of course delivery and student support, as we strive to make the online learning experience as rewarding and enjoyable as possible.”
