Framingham, MA (PRWEB) May 23, 2011
Rave Mobile Safety, a leading provider of safety software solutions including Smart911, today announced that the Nashville Emergency Communications Center is the recipient of The IACP/iXP Excellence in Technology Award, in the Excellence in Law Enforcement Communications and Interoperability category. The category recognizes implementations of technology that improve mission critical voice communications, interoperability, as well as information and data sharing solutions. Nashville Emergency Communications Center was recognized for its use of Smart911, which enables citizens to enter personal safety information online, which is then automatically transmitted to a 9-1-1 call taker when 9-1-1 is dialed. This software dramatically improves emergency outcomes, and can help save lives.
Nashville’s Emergency Communications Center is leading the way in 9-1-1 call center innovation, through its implementation of Smart911. This free service is available to all citizens and allows them to input vital information about themselves and their families into a secure on-line database. When 9-1-1 is dialed, the system gives first responders immediate access to information such as children’s photos, medical conditions, the home address of mobile phone callers, and information about disabilities or other rescue-related information. The additional data provided is far more extensive than what is normally available to first responders and helps to significantly improve incident outcomes.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by the IACP and iXP for this prestigious award. The city of Nashville is always looking to set an example by improving services and enhancing safety for our citizens. Smart911 has transformed our call center and improved emergency response by providing our first responders with more information before arriving at an emergency,” said Duane Phillips, Director, Metro Nashville ECC. “A significant portion of the community has already registered for Smart911. Citizens recognize the value of creating a profile to enhance their personal and family safety. The system is easy-to-use and can dramatically improve how cities and counties react during emergencies.”
The IACP/iXP Excellence in Technology Award Program recognizes law enforcement agencies’ superior achievement and innovation in the field of communication and information technology. This international award program is designed to recognize exceptional, innovative, and extraordinary achievement in law enforcement technology-based programs, efforts, or initiatives that benefit law enforcement as a profession.
“Nashville’s Emergency Communications Center is an outstanding example of a city that is using Smart911 to enhance communication within their 9-1-1 center and improve the lives and safety of citizens,” said Tom Axbey, president and CEO of Rave Mobile Safety. “We thank IACP and iXP for recognizing the value of Smart911 and congratulate Nashville for being an exemplary model for cities across the nation.”
Representatives from Nashville Emergency Communications Center and Rave Mobile Safety will present their implementation at the 2011 LEIM Conference, June 13-15, 2011 in San Diego, CA. Click here to register or learn more about this event.
