Kenia Davalos will be featured on Women’s News Bureau on May 30th on an international portal for women in business, She Can, You Can, produced Casandra Moreno Lombera, an award-winning Hollywood writer/producer.
Ms. Davalos states “I am so grateful and feel blessed to be featured in this program, I am an educator, community activist since and public servant as part of my mission in life and for my two young beautiful children, especially my son who has special needs. I want to teach them that we must share our opportunities and build up our communities’ success.”
Kenia Davalos, one of the youngest women to have the privilege of being a part of the Business Management and Finance department at UCLA and program director of her own program, which is designed to assist and empower women through the education of practical mathematical, financial models, and economic theories. In addition, she is the Chief Financial Officer for Pals, LLC, a Whittier small business whose aim is providing people with disabilities supporting living services.
Ms. Davalos has been a commissioner for 10 years and from Jan. 2011, she serves as Chairwomen for Los Angeles County Office of Small Business Commission in overseeing and supporting small business growth and contracting opportunities. Ms. Davalos has also been appointed on CA Governors Small Business Advisory Committee.
In November 2008, she was awarded “2008 Community Service Women of the Year” by the Regional Hispanic Chamber. From 2009 to 2010, she was acknowledged in Hispanic Outlook as an academic leading instructor at UCLA and was a guest on the radio show “Economic Perspective”. In 2009, she was the keynote speaker at the annual Texas Economic Development conference at People Fund.
In 2009 and 2010, she received YWCA-SGV distinguished award for empowering women in finance in her local community. She was named 2010 Women of The Year by Alive Magazine. In May 2011, recently was awarded certificates of recognition from Assemblymember Tony Mendoza and Congresswoman Linda Sanchez for being an educator and her public service to young students in our communities.
Ms. Davalos received her undergraduate degree in history, with distinction from the University of California, Los Angeles/Santa Cruz. The Maxwell School of Syracuse University with a Master’s of Public Administration-Public Finance at age 21. Ms. Davalos in her late 20’s was a former adjunct instructor/ guest lecturer at Pepperdine University. In 2011 became a fellow graduate UC Berkeley Executive Leadership program and in 2011 received a UCLA Higher Educational Instructor credential. She is a graduate from the Harvard Business School in Corporate Governance program. She is a proud mother of two elementary age children and is involved locally in her beautiful community of Whittier, CA.
