Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, NY (PRWEB) May 22, 2011
31 Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse area Denny’s restaurants kicked off an event with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, a national non-profit organization committed to funding new treatments for pediatric cancer, the leading cause of death by disease for children in the US, on May 5th.
Customers at participating Denny’s restaurants are encouraged to make a donation to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer and in exchange, each customer’s name will be placed on the Denny’s “Wall of Good Cookies”. These restaurants are already covered in cookies having raised approximately $44,000 for this outstanding cause and are determined to reach a goal of $75,000 for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer by the end of the event on June 1st .
“The support of individuals and businesses is vitally important to the fight against childhood cancer. Basically, it’s up to us to make up the difference from the lack of funding that is directed at childhood cancer. Without businesses like Denny’s who are willing to take a stand for children, who are our future, fighting this relentless disease is nearly impossible. We salute this group of Denny’s for caring enough to want to get involved and are grateful for their support,” commented Gretchen Witt, Founder of Cookies for Kids’ Cancer.
Denny's is one of America's largest full-service family restaurant chains, currently operating more than 1,600 franchised, licensed and company-owned restaurants across the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Honduras, Guam, Puerto Rico and New Zealand. About Cookies for Kids’ Cancer
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded by parents inspired by their son’s fight against cancer. Today pediatric cancer remains the number one disease killer of children in the United States, due in large part to a lack of funding for research into new and improved therapies. Through the concept of local bake sales and online cookie sales, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer inspires individuals, organizations, and businesses to join in the fight against pediatric cancer by raising the funds and awareness necessary to change the face of pediatric cancer and provide more families with the hope they deserve. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer grants funds raised to leading pediatric cancer research facilities including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Texas Children’s Cancer Center and Dana Farber Cancer Center.
