Salem, NH (PRWEB) May 23, 2011
The global point to point (PTP) radio market declined by 11.9% in 2010 to 1.09 million units, according to the latest report from EJL Wireless Research titled “Global Digital PTP Radio Market Analysis and Forecast, 2010-2015 7th Edition.” “One of the largest factors impacting PTP radio shipments in 2010 was the Indian telecom embargo,” says founder and President, Earl Lum. EJL Wireless Research is forecasting that the PTP radio market will recover in 2011 continue to see moderate growth through 2013.
Ericsson decisively regained its leadership position within the PTP radio industry in 2010, capitalizing on the rapid shift to high capacity hybrid radio solutions as NEC Microwave dropped to second in the overall market share rankings. “As we predicted in our last forecast, Huawei continues to move up and was ranked third after only three years in our market share analysis,” says Lum.
“Europe surpassed Asia Pacific as the top region as upgrades to support both 3G and 4G networks drove demand,” says Lum. Asia Pacific was weaker than expected due primarily to India. The high capacity 50-900Mb product segment (optical/TDM/Ethernet) has become the de facto standard now for the industry and represented 75% of overall shipments. The 60/70/80GHz radio shipments grew 67% in 2010 with BridgeWave Communications leading this emerging product segment.
The report provides a unique perspective on the global shipments and demand for PTP radio equipment covering all vendors including Alcatel-Lucent, BridgeWave Communications, Ceragon Networks, DragonWave, E-band Communications, Ericsson, Aviat Networks, Huawei Technologies, NEC, Nokia Siemens Networks, SIAE Microelettronica and ZTE.
