Vetionx announced today the release of a re-formulated version of their popular flea, tick, and mange shampoo, Defendex. The new blend of FDA approved ingredients is exactly the same as before, minus one ingredient - Sodium laureth sulfate.
“I’m so pleased the company has chosen to eliminate this controversial ingredient from their product,” said Dr. Char. “I appreciate how much this affected their business by making these changes to labeling and product manufacturing. That they thought it was important enough to move forward regardless says a lot about how much they value their customers and their customer’s pets.”
Sodium laureth sulfate or sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES), is a detergent and surfactant found in many personal care products (soaps, shampoos, toothpaste etc.). SLES is an inexpensive and very effective foaming agent. SLES has been shown to produce eye or skin irritation in experimental animals and in some human test subjects.
Vetionx features a line of six safe and effective pet health care products for all pets and animals, including dogs, cats, horses, birds and reptiles. The company has been manufacturing and selling OTC pet health products since 2005. Its headquarters are located at 4460 – 44th St. SW, Ste. C 600, Grand Rapids, MI, 49512.
