Family-friendly day of music and education to celebrate academic achievement by Los Angeles students

Education services provider1 On 1 Academic Tutors is excited to announce “Festival Musical Familiar,” a day-long celebration of music and education, at Plaza Mexico in Lynwood, California, on May 29, 2011.

“We provided tutoring services to thousands of families in Los Angeles all year long, but the school year is almost over and we want to celebrate our students’ achievements,” said David Moses Manshoory, CEO and Co-Founder of 1 On 1 Academic Tutors. “This Festival is a reward to our students and their families for the great work they did this year.”

“Festival Musical Familiar” will feature music from 12 popular Latin musical groups, headlined by the Mexican band Vilma Diaz y La Sonora. In addition, more than a dozen non-profit organizations, including the L.A. Regional Food Bank, Mother’s Nutritional Center, and Watts/Century Latino Organization, will have booths sharing free information about their services to help community members.

“We invite the general public to come and enjoy a day of music and community,” said Carlos Torres, Manager of Parent Relations for 1 On 1 Academic Tutors. “It’s going to be a fun day and the perfect place to bring your kids.”

The Festival will start at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 29, and end at 6:00 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. to honor local leaders and inspirational heroes with Community Impact Awards from 1 On 1 Academic Tutors.

Mario Trujillo, who is running for Los Angeles County District Attorney in 2012, will receive the “Voice of the People” Community Impact Award for his work with the District Attorney’s office. In 14 years as a prosecutor, Trujillo has earned a reputation for excellence and commitment to public safety. He also worked for six years as an elementary school teacher and continues to be involved in his community.

1 On 1 Academic Tutors expects more than 10,000 people to participate in the event, which is being promoted on Radio El Gato 103.1 FM, Telemundo, and other media outlets.

The address for Festival Musical Familiar is 3100 E. Imperial Highway, Lynwood, CA, 90262. Plaza Mexico is a Latin-American-themed center featuring shops, restaurants, and public space.
