Free Solar Installation From The Green Homes Company

One of the UK’s fastest growing providers of renewable energy systems, The Green Home Company, has announced it has secured £15 million of finance as part of the company’s programme of providing homeowners across the South East with free solar!

One of the UK’s fastest growing providers of renewable energy systems, The Green Home Company, has announced it has secured £15 million of finance as part of the company’s programme of providing homeowners across the South East with free solar energy systems.

The finance will enable the Kent-based company to offer free solar PV systems, worth up to £15,000, to around 1400 qualifying homeowners in the period up to March 2012.

This amazing offer to homeowners is possible due to the introduction of the Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) in April 2010. The Government-backed scheme, which pays building owners for any renewable energy they generate, was launched to incentivise the use of ‘green’ energy sources and encourage investment in renewable energy. The initiative sees homeowners rewarded for generating solar electricity to the tune of 43.3p for every kilowatt of electricity they produce.

Offering a guaranteed income for 25 years, the generosity of the FITs has enabled The Green Home Company to offer homeowners totally free solar electricity. This is made possible by the company keeping the FITs payments, rather than the homeowner. In exchange for allowing The Green Home Company to fit panels to their roof the homeowner will benefit from free electricity generated by the solar panels. The funding, from financial groups who specialise in backing clean technology companies, reflects the huge growth in solar PV systems and will allow the company to solidify the Green Home Company’s position as a leading provider of renewable energy systems.

Following a roof suitability application process, any qualifying home could start saving hundreds of pounds a year in energy bills. Suitability will depend upon criteria including size of roof and its direction – ideally south-facing pitched roof with minimal shading so as to achieve maximum output.

“We are delighted to have secured this funding,” commented Alan Proto, MD of The Green Home Company. “We anticipate the growth of solar energy to be massive over the coming months and years and thanks to the funding and the Government’s Feed-In Tariffs, we are in the enviable position of being able to offer homeowners free installation. We naturally expect demand to be extremely high as this offers homeowners a zero cost method of reducing their energy bills – something that is very welcome, especially following recent price increases introduced by the leading energy companies.”
