Mother Earth News, the leading magazine dedicated to self-sufficient living and a longtime leader in covering green transportation, names the Best Green Cars of 2011 in its June-July issue, on newsstands now.
This year’s list highlights the Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Leaf, Toyota Prius, Ford Fiesta, Honda CR-Z and Volkswagen Jetta TDI as the best green cars in the 2011 model year.
“These cars represent the future of vehicle technology that will reduce dependence on oil and instigate more innovation in the auto industry,” says John Rockhold, managing editor of Mother Earth News and the author of the article.
Rockhold researched and selected the vehicles for the list then asked industry experts to weigh in on each vehicle. The experts included Brad Berman, HybridCars.com and PluginCars.com; Terry Penney, National Renewable Energy Laboratory; Ron Cogan, Green Car Journal; Todd Kaho, Green Car Journal and FrugalDriver.com; Chelsea Sexton, consulting producer of the documentary Revenge of the Electric Car?; James Kliesch, Union of Concerned Scientists; and Jim Motavalli, author of High Voltage: The Fast Track to Plug in the Auto Industry.
