California Southern University, an online university, has completed its 2011 Institutional Effectiveness Survey, and is pleased to announce that it has attained its highest overall learner satisfaction levels in the six administrations of the survey.

The survey polls current learners, asking questions across 10 categories, including Enrollment Services, Student Support, Learner Services, Academic Advisors, Instruction, Degree Programs, Library Services, Administration, and two overarching categories. Three questions are asked in each of the above topic areas. In nine out of the 10 categories surveyed, the results showed at least two all-time-high satisfaction scores out of the three questions; in four categories, all three questions resulted in all-time-high scores.

Three survey questions are mandated by the university’s accrediting body, the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), which has been nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a reputable and reliable accrediting body since 1959. The DETC-required questions are: (1) "Did you achieve, or will you have achieved upon completing your studies, the goals you had when you started the course or program?" (2) "All things considered, were you satisfied with your studies with us?" and (3) "Would you recommend California Southern University to a friend?" For each of these three survey questions, between 97 and 98 percent of the CalSouthern respondents answered "yes."

"We are extremely pleased with the survey results," says Dr. Caroll Ryan, President of California Southern University. "We've long measured our performance in terms of our learners’ satisfaction and ultimate success, so it is particularly gratifying to see record-high scores across so many facets of our institution. Improvements can always be made, of course, and we will review the survey results carefully and use them to further enhance our academic programs and support services."

Founded in 1978, California Southern University is a premier, accredited online university, offering online degree programs at the associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels in business, law, and psychology to an international student body, utilizing a proprietary online learning system. CalSouthern is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council. The Accrediting Commission is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency and is a recognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
