Demand for all-inclusive breaks to Turkey is up ahead of a busy schedule of May events at the popular marina of Marmaris

This month sees two major marine-based events at Marmaris grab the attention of locals and holidaymakers alike. This is added to the year-round appeal of the Turquoise Coast’s most glamorous corner.

It also coincides with a time when orders for Turkish Lira are up 115%. Marmaris Yacht Charter Show

From the 14th to the 18th of May, the Marmaris Yacht Charter Show will officially open the charter season in Turkey. It is an event fitting of the luxury surroundings.

Marmaris’ marina is widely recognised as one of the most up-market parts of the Turquoise Coast, where celebrities moor up to let off some steam in the bars and restaurants and holidaymakers visit to experience the high life.

This high society, jet set lifestyle is imbued into this event with everything from wine-tasting sessions to gourmet chef competitions and cocktail parties; all played out in front of a collage of yachts and boats. Running through these events is an undercurrent of marine influences.

There will be sailors, brokers and enthusiasts arriving from all over the globe to talk and marvel at the many ships, yachts and boats bobbing in the marina.

Marmaris Maritime and Spring Festival

If the Yacht Charter Show celebrates the opulence of luxury lifestyles in Marmaris, the Maritime and Spring Festival exhibits the zest for life that the Turkish people, on the Turquoise Coast, have.

Whilst the maritime theme continues to run through this event, much like the Yacht Show earlier in the month, attention is largely turned towards the many live shows put on.

The live concerts, often attracting major names from the Turkish music scene, and the acrobatic slam dung event are particular headline grabbers. Much of this is centered on Ataturk Square, where large swarms of visitors congregate to party and absorb the atmosphere.

A Unique Location

Even when there isn’t an event going on, Marmaris is a popular holiday destination. Its unique geography, straddling the borders of the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea has often seen it play great importance in marine activity over the years.

Whilst this importance has diminished in the modern day, what has been left is a legacy of marine expertise, wonderfully celebrated at the glitzy marina.
