Under the Nile Hosts Drive to Support Sleep Train’s Annual Collection of Pajamas for Foster Children

Organic baby clothing manufacturer Under the Nile is taking strides to help its local community, in partnership with Sleep Train's Foster Kids initiative.

Under the Nile began its first pajama drive on Monday to spread awareness about foster children, and to collect new pajamas for local foster children in California.

For three weeks, the organic cotton baby clothing company is encouraging people to stop by their office, where they are collecting new pajamas that will go to foster children in need. Under the Nile will also be donating $1,600 in organic cotton pajamas for the drive.

Each year, over 30,000 California children enter foster care. With almost 60,000 foster children in the California foster care system, it is very difficult for each of them to receive the care and attention they deserve.

Many of these children have suffered the effects of neglect, poverty and even abuse. However, studies show that for many foster children, these challenges are just beginning. For example, the majority of foster children have at least one chronic medical condition. Foster children also experience four times the emotional problems as their peers.

Under the Nile chose to collaborate with Sleep Train because of the company’s history of contributions in lending a voice to foster children, as well as its long standing relationship with California agencies and success in providing aid to them.

“Under the Nile has given back so much to developing countries overseas,” said Under the Nile CEO Janice Masoud, “and we really wanted to do something that would directly benefit our community here at home.”
