Today Triclinic Labs announced it has opened an additional 5000 square feet of laboratory and office space in the renovated Innovatech Building in West Lafayette, IN. The new facilities house state-of-the-art instrumentation, organic and analytical chemistry laboratories, office space for newly created scientific positions, conference rooms, and employee common areas. With this latest expansion Triclinic is adding bulk powder characterization and interaction services, dissolution testing, high-throughput solid-form screening and selection, new thermal and spectroscopic chemical analysis techniques, a state-of-the-art Rigaku SmartLab X-Ray Powder Diffractometer, CILAS 1180 Laser Particle Size analyzer, and other physicochemical analysis capabilities to its extensive list of services. The new lab will allow the addition of ten positions in the next 24 months.
"We're excited to be able to add additional scientific capabilities and capacity to our extensive physical and analytical chemistry service offerings. Our goal is to provide more unique services for our clients with our current expansion." said Shawn C. Comella, Triclinic's CEO. "The demand from our clients for materials characterization and solid-form screening and development has been overwhelming. We are pleased to be able to provide the additional techniques and expertise our pharmaceutical and intellectual property clients have requested of us. Despite a recovering economy, we continue to add jobs at a regular interval and reinvest in our small and large molecule research and development offerings" he added.
This is the third expansion for Triclinic Labs since its inception in April of 2009.

About Triclinic Labs:
Triclinic Labs was founded by David E. Bugay, G. Patrick Stahly, Shawn C. Comella, and Scott L. Childs.
Our goal is to provide the most advanced consulting and laboratory capabilities for solid-state chemical development. We routinely help the pharmaceutical and specialty chemicals industries but have also analyzed and studied counterfeit items, minerals, semiconductors, and other unique molecules. Over the last 15 years we've helped the world's chemical development groups understand, discover, improve, and protect solid-state materials.
To date we've
- Collaborated on over 1000 drug substances, drug products, and fine chemicals
- Conducted more than 500 polymorph, salt, and cocrystal projects
- Acted as consultants for 90% of the top 50 pharmaceutical companies worldwide
- Acted as witnesses and experts for nearly 100 chemical intellectual property & legal matters worldwide
Our experts have contributed to more development milestones and legal matters than any other group of contract physical and analytical chemistry experts. The principals at Triclinic were the scientific and operations drivers behind the growth of SSCI, a solid-state contract laboratory, which was the industry leader for more than a decade. The principals' shared belief in the value of customer focus, scientific integrity, and extensive experience led to the decision to create new capabilities at Triclinic Labs.
