Safetec Names Kim Peterson Director of Environmental, Health and Safety

Safetec Compliance Systems, a leading provider of global chemical risk and compliance technology solutions, has named Kim Peterson as its Director of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS). As an experienced, hands-on EHS professional, Ms. Peterson brings to Safetec greater insight into the challenges EHS Managers face in managing day-to-day tasks, including recordkeeping and reporting, handling emergency situations and anticipating future regulatory requirements. With this insight, Safetec can provide its clients with software applications and hands-on assistance that solve these challenges, practically and effectively.

Ms. Peterson has extensive environmental, health and safety experience with ten years as the Director of Environmental Compliance for Graphic Packaging International (GPI). In this position Ms. Peterson prepared annual emission, hazardous waste, Form R, Tier II and other reports as well as hazardous waste contingency, storm water pollution prevention and spill control and countermeasure plans. Ms. Peterson also developed and implemented corporate wide EHS strategic initiatives to improve sustainability and ensure the company met and exceeded compliance with Federal, State and local environmental laws and regulations for over 70 GPI facility locations in North America.

Ms. Peterson was also responsible for numerous aspects of OSHA compliance, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA), HazCom programs, accident investigation, Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), and confined space. She was accountable for all environmental due diligence activities for GPI’s mergers, acquisitions and divestures. Ms. Peterson holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Management and Sustainability from the Illinois Institute of Technology and is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
