The new Event API allows an event recorded by the JangoSMTP service to trigger a web call on a user's server. The JangoSMTP Event API can call a user's web service when JangoSMTP records any of the following: an email sent, an email opened, a clicked link, an unsubscribe request, an email bounce, and a complaint report.
An address that unsubscribes from emailing could now, via web service, be flagged to receive postal mail only. Similarly, a recipient clicking a link about a new product feature could be set to receive a follow up email with a coupon or discount for trying it out.

"One problem we have is when a user gives us a bad email for their activation and then comes back and complains they never got it. We then have to look for bounces. This way, we can get a notification, compare addresses, and then note their account. Next time they come to the site and try to log in, instead of saying 'you haven't verified yet,' we can say, 'hey your email bounced. Want to change it and try again?'

Previously, JangoSMTP customers could use the standard API to extract data from the service, but the Standard API needs to be polled by the customer's system. The Event API doesn't need the customer's system to initiate data transfer. It pushes the data to the customer's system in real time when an event happens.
