Activation Media, a pioneer in immersive, cross-platform entertainment, today announced the close of an undisclosed amount of seed funding from a group of private investors. The funding will enable Activation Media to continue development of its innovative interactive entertainment platform. “Activation Media is extremely pleased to be supported by this esteemed group of investors. The Company also announced several additions to the management team, including Disney alum and former VP of Games Production at Nickelodeon David Bergantino, former Apple and IBM executive Sebastian Hassinger, and Dr. Alison Bryant who is an industry leader in the fields of consumer research, digital analytics and methodological innovation. “We are truly excited by the addition of industry executives with such an impressive track record of success. Adding talent of this caliber strengthens our capabilities and well positions us to develop our innovative product offering,” Rohit added.
David Bergantino is a twenty five year veteran of the digital entertainment industry as a producer, designer, programmer and writer, with fifteen of those in the games industry. David has held positions as Vice President Creative Production at THQ; Vice President, Premium Games Production at Nickelodeon, Producer for Disney Interactive, Director of Internet Development for The WB Television Network and Director of Development, Action Games for Jim Henson Interactive where he also consulted on the development of film and television projects for The Jim Henson Company. As a Consultant, his clients have included Sony, Midway Games, Visual Universal, Gizmo Games, and New Line Cinema among others.
Dr. Alison Bryant
Dr. Alison Bryant is well known for her deep understanding of consumers, entrenched industry knowledge, and strategic vision. In addition to founding PlayScience, a game-changing research & design firm focused on rethinking the ways that kids and families play across platforms, she was the Chief Strategy Officer for Smarty Pants, a research, consulting, and innovation firm focused on young children, teens, and families. Dr. Bryant was also previously Senior Research Director of Digital Research and Brand & Consumer Insights for the Nickelodeon/MTV Networks Kids & Family Group. She also served as the research and strategic insights mastermind for behind the 18 websites and the Virtual World and Game Studios under the Nickelodeon umbrella, managing many top brands such as Addicting Games, Nick, Neopets and Shockwave.
Sebastian Hassinger has worked in the IT industry for over twenty five years in large companies and as an entrepreneur. He has founded two Internet Service Providers, helped launch several other startups, and held development management, senior strategy and business development roles with Apple, IBM and Oracle. Sebastian is a published author and holds over a dozen software and business model patents. His expertise lies in business planning, investment portfolio management, new business creation, technology strategy, creating new business models that leverage technology, scenario planning, strategy and change management consulting.
