The Beall Mansion An Elegant Bed & Breakfast Inn was one of only five bed & breakfasts in Illinois and one of only two bed & breakfasts in the St. Louis area to make the list.

The Midwest Living travel team, comprised of more than 40 freelance travel writers and a group of on-staff editors, spent 18 months staying at more than 100 Bed &Breakfasts in the Midwest. The bed and breakfasts were graded on appearance, atmosphere, hospitality, food, presentation, and amenities.

After reviewing some of the finest lodging accommodations in the country, the highest scoring Bed & Breakfasts made the list of Midwest Living’s “30 Favorite B&Bs.” The Beall Mansion has been honored with a coveted spot on the list.

“We would like to thank Midwest Living for selecting The Beall Mansion to be a part of such a prestigious list,” said co-owners Jim and Sandy Belote. “It is our many wonderful guests and honors like this that make the long hours and hard work of operating a bed and breakfast inn worthwhile.”

The Beall Mansion has been pampering leisure and business travelers since 1998. Designed by world famous architect, Lucas Pfeiffenberger, the elegant mansion features 18 ionic columns, eleven and a half foot ceilings, crystal chandeliers fine antiques, and marble and bronze statuary throughout.

Room amenities include a sumptuous triple sheeted feather bed, private bath with Italian marble floor, shower and whirlpool for two or clawfoot tub, 24 hour "all you can eat" chocolate buffet, plush monogrammed robes, homemade lavender bath salts, and choice of gourmet breakfast in bed (or in the formal dining room) or self serve continental breakfast in the butler’s pantry.

In-room massage by appointment, spa getaways, golf getaways and eagle watching packages are available.

“The Beall Mansion is a place to relax, unwind, and recharge. Perfect for leisure, business, couples, and singles,” said Sandy Belote. “In short, the perfect choice for anyone who wants to be pampered in turn of the century elegance.”

The inn is located along the Heartland Rivers Wine Trail on Millionaire's Row in historic Alton, Illinois—25 minutes from the St. Louis Gateway Arch, 90 minutes from Springfield, IL, and 4 ½ hours from Chicago.
