Five years ago Greg Sieber, a local Chantilly businessman, started a small organization called Dulles FC to help socio-economically disadvantaged kids in Northern Virginia get access to higher level training and competition in the game of soccer. He started Dulles FC when his oldest son was eligible to start playing in travel or academy soccer leagues. The problem was that many of his friends in the recreational league was not be able to go with him due to financial constraints and there was little or no help available. Sadly, many of these kids loved the game more than the kids moving forward with professional training and higher competition. Greg researched this and discovered that hundreds of kids were being left behind by “the system”. Many gave up on the game and found the streets as an alternative.
Today, Dulles FC has evolved into an organization that uses the game as an outreach vehicle to teach the kids vital life lessons and personal skills in addition to the game of soccer. Everyone involved with Dulles FC personally has a passion to see the kids break the cycle they are in and make a better life for themselves and their future generations. The players stay in school, many doing very well, and they live clean and healthy. Dulles FC now supports almost thirty players of various ages on full and partial scholarships playing travel soccer.
Last year Greg personally spent over $38,000 supporting these kids and anyone that knows him is aware of the personal sacrifice he has have made over the years to make a difference in these kids’ lives. For many, Dulles FC covers everything from soccer fees to soccer shoes. As they are getting older and more kids want to become part of this fantastic program, the expenses involved are growing to the point where Dulles FC has to to turn kids away, which is the worst of alternatives.
Dulles FC needs your help. This summer, the organization wants to send kids to camp and they need funding for fall season registrations and uniforms. Dulles FC has a goal of raising $10,000 to cover the cost of sending ten more kids to camp as well as upcoming league registrations and uniforms.
Without your help, Dulles FC will have to leave some kids out of the summer camp experience. Donations are being accepted to help provide these kids a chance to improve their lives and futures by learning the game of soccer and competing in a safe environment. Every penny counts, so please make even the smallest of donation.
Corporate donations are especially needed. Corporate donors will have their logo with a link and description posted on all of Dulles FC club and team web sites. More importantly, they can be proud of the fact that they are making a significant impact on the future of some deserving kids.
