Dr. John Barge, State School Superintendent had an opportunity to view a live video telehealth demonstration at Ware County High School in Waycross, GA, on Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Georgia Partnership for TeleHealth, Inc. was working with a group of students currently enrolled on a healthcare pathway at Ware County High School, and the connection was made with Dr. Mike McConnell, Pediatric Cardiologist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Dr. McConnell actually listened to Dr. Barge’s heartbeat during the session.

Dr. Joseph Barrow, Jr., Ware County Superintendent said, “The Ware County School System’s vision is to prepare students for the transition from high school to post secondary education or into the career of their choice. The reorganization of Ware County High School into career academies and our partnership with organizations like the Georgia Partnership for Telehealth and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta allows unique educational opportunities and emphasizes the relevance of real world experiences for our students.”
