Foodie Registry announces first ever wedding registry to feature dining experiences to underground or "pop-up" dinners as gift options.

Foodie Registry (, an innovative website where wedding couples can create a gift registry for restaurant gift certificates, is adding “underground” or “popup” dinners as new registry options just in time for the summer wedding season. Previously limited to traditional bricks and mortar restaurants, Foodie Registry’s gift registry application will begin to include gift certificates for dining experiences offered by Clandestino Supper Club in Chicago and “A Razor, A Shiny Knife”, which is based out of Brooklyn but hosts avant-garde dining events around the globe. Additionally, Foodie Registry has partnered with the venerable James Beard Foundation, and gift certificates can be used for any public event at the “Beard House.”

“Our wedding couples are attracted to Foodie Registry because they are bored with the status quo”, says Foodie Registry co-founder Ben Reid. “Providing newlyweds with a fun, intimate dining experience is a thoughtful and unique gift. Given the Underground Supper Club trend, we anticipate that this will be a very popular gift this summer.”

Clandestino Supper Club hosts secretive monthly dining events around the Chicago area and doesn’t notify registered dinner guests until 24 to 48 hours before the event. A Razor, A Shiny Knife delivers “an educational, social and theatrical culinary experience” and produces avant-garde dining events with a heavy emphasis on experimental haute cuisine.
Reid and his wife Jennifer created the company after eschewing the traditional registry at their own wedding in 2008 and creating a “restaurant registry” instead. The registry was a huge hit with guests, and Foodie Registry was born.

Foodie Registry is free and functions just like a normal registry, where the gifts are restaurant gift certificates or, as the company likes to say, date nights! Gift purchasers can view their friends’ registry and purchase a gift certificate for them right from the site, with zero fees to either registrants or purchasers, a key distinction from other popular alternative registries like “Honeymoon” or “Cash” registries.

Foodie Registry was founded in 2010 and operates an innovative online wedding registry for restaurant gift certificates. The company was created after Jennifer and Ben Reid were pressured to register for things for their own wedding that they didn’t need or want and, in a fit of inspiration and rebellion, instead sent out a list of restaurants they loved or wanted to try. The list was a smashing success, Jennifer and Ben had “Friday night date-nights” for months, guests were excited to give the newlyweds a romantic meal out together as opposed to something that gathered dust on a shelf, and Foodie Registry was born.
