indeni, the leader in security operations monitoring, today announced the latest release of its flagship software, indeni v. 1.7.0. “We continue to look at the system from the administrator viewpoint regarding ease of use and speed to deployment of monitored devices,” says Yonadav Leitersdorf, indeni CEO. “Our entire focus is on usability and functionality to reduce troubleshooting time and free IT personnel for more productive tasks.”

To support that goal, new features in indeni 1.7.0 include enhanced SNMP trapping, setup, and certification; enhanced search capabilities; recognition of known devices and the ability to add multiple devices at once.

A key function of the indeni security monitoring system has always been sending alert information to users via SNMP traps so that indeni alerts are available on the user’s main operations console. In this release, indeni modified the contents and the number of traps sent by the system to ensure that setting up SNMP integration is as easy as possible. The company is working with leading vendors of network monitoring and management systems to ensure the integration is certified. Users are encouraged to contact indeni with specific systems they want certified.

Also new in this version of indeni is support for Check Point's R75.10 as well as previous Check Point releases, along with a host of new signatures, including additional coverage for VPN and SIC problems and identification of specific upgrade-related issues.

The system also can now identify known firewalls, including those currently not monitored by the system, and allows the addition of multiple firewalls at once. Additions to the alert features allow greater flexibility for users wanting the system to ignore issues unrelated to the firewalls themselves by providing more options in the alert listing.

Expanded access to information held by the system has been added in indeni 1.7.0. Users can perform full-text Boolean searches through all the alerts indeni provides to quickly find particular types of alerts or problems with a monitored device. In addition, users can search for particular devices or information from a variety of the main screens.

“We will continue to push the system’s capabilities in every way,” says Leitersdorf. “We are making indeni as comprehensive as possible, as well as providing fast, easy access to the critical information network security administrators need to keep their systems optimized.”
Interested parties can evaluate the system by registering as a user on the indeni website to gain access to the demonstration guide and software. Setting up a trial is free, requires little time or effort, and allows users to see a fully–functional version of indeni in operation.
