Early connections with nature help put children on a lifelong path to physical and emotional wellness

IAGmedia, a family-focused mobile entertainment company, announces today receiving the 2011 Parents’ Choice “Approved” Award for its eco-educational series - Let’s Go Chipper- connecting children to nature. The Let’s Go Chipper, Into the Great Outdoors animated and live action DVD and CD set playfully teaches good character and a love for the environment while preparing kids for a camping and adventures in the great outdoors.

Research continues to show the importance of fostering early connections between children and nature and the direct long-term emotional and physical benefits. The Let’s Go Chipper series excites and prepares young children with a primary emphasis on two – six year olds, an age when most parents worry about their child getting hurt, lost, or fear of getting dirty. Chipper, an overly curious city squirrel, excites children through music, mishap and humor when he joins his family on their first camping trip in the great outdoors. The experiences are reality-based yet delivered playfully so they resonate with a child. The lessons Chipper learns foster meaningful conversations between parent and child.

“Chipper is ultimately a parenting tool and acts as a conduit when teaching valuable life lessons; be it teaching respect for nature or others, or helping in the home or community,” says creator Stephanie Rach-Wilson. “The experiences resonate and exercise emotional characteristics children are born with and need to have reinforced through play-based experiences at this early stage in their brain development.”

The Let’s Go Chipper DVD blends animation and live action featuring award-winning footage from state and national parks like Yosemite. Chipper teaches kids lessons like:

  •     What to pack and how to be a respectful traveler,
  •     The importance of staying together “You can play, but don’t stray”
  •     Respecting animals and plants “Keep your tail on the trail”
  •     Habitats and hydration – where animals live and why we all need water to survive

Additionally, Chipper teaches kids and families the importance of keeping our neighborhoods clean so all animals and communities can thrive: “Only rain down the drain.”
“The very first message is packing what you need and ‘click it or ticket’ for safe driving and it ends with reinforcing why we want to respect the environment in a song Blue Planet Green – parents tell us it’s their favorite song,” says Ms. Rach-Wilson.

The Let’s Go Chipper series provides supporting information via the http://www.letsgochipper.com site where parents can download check lists and crafts using recycled materials, resources for planning trips, and pertinent information about the importance of early connections with nature. Additionally, the Company is deeply involved in helping connect families to their community through park revitalizations, in-store events, and school programs featuring story times, songs, and physical activities with its mascot Chipper.

Let’s Go Chipper launched as the first original content series on iTunes earlier this year with the company usurping television episodes for “appisodes” in an effort to reach today’s mobile family. The series features a robust portal including immersive content and activities that are both eco-educational and entertaining. The series will continue with new content launching in July and featuring an appisode a month with complementing games, and physical merchandise available by holiday 2011.
