Home DIY Tips visits The Ideal Homeshow 2011 at the SECC in Glasgow, the annual highlight for home enthusiasts and home interior industry leaders. Hundreds of exhibitors were drawn to Glasgow from all over the UK for the second May bank holiday weekend; the enormous crowds drawn to see the latest interior styles and trends and cutting edge technology. This show was the biggest and best to date, full of the most well known manufacturers and a few new surprises too.
The Ideal Homeshow has grown year on year and its great appeal is the diverse range of exhibitors one can see. You can see anything from home interiors, DIY and home improvements, sofa manufacturers, home food exhibitors, garden ware, and the most up to date home technology and gadgets.
The indoor furniture exhibits were particularly strong this year displaying a classy array of styles and interior designs. A personal favourite Oakdale Sofas had a lovely selection of leather sofas in their catalogue at seriously reasonable prices. I almost bought a new leather sofa for my new home there and then! They had some of the most contemporary sofa designs I’ve seen on the market in the last year.
On the practical domestic side there is a diverse array of air conditioning units, ceiling fans, air purifiers and all sorts of clever electronics and eco electricity saving devices, really useful viewing for hotels and restaurants. This year’s show was certainly the most innovative I have seen in my time. There was an impressive collection of appliances from Costco who seem to be able to supplier almost anything to do with homes on any scale.
Lots of beautiful fabrics on display, notably from Thomas Sanderson who offer a classic selection and are willing to give any client free consulting, survey and installation.
The usual impressive exhibits from the big garden suppliers turned up this year. The demand for interesting gadgets and ideas for the garden is driving an innovate array of practical and innovate garden products. Barbour have always have the finest outdoor country attire. I was particularly impressed with the amazing value offered by Edinburgh Hot Tubs; the range extends to both inside and outside spas and tubs in all shapes and sizes.
Whatever your home needs the Ideal Homeshow will have something for you. It is a great days shopping and gives you the chance to meet some of the most popular home interior and sofa manufacturers in the UK today. Be sure to sign up for next year’s show scheduled to run in May 2012.
