Oceanview Publishing announces the upcoming release of Black Diamond by John F. Dobbyn. Black Diamond (ISBN: 978-1-60809-022-8, Hardcover, 280 pages, $25.95, Category: Thriller, Midpoint Trade Books, distributor) will be available nationwide on October 3, 2011. Black Diamond will also be simultaneously released in an eBook version (ISBN: 978-1-60809-023-5, $14.95).

The newest Boston-based blockbuster from critically-acclaimed novelist John F. Dobbyn, Black Diamond is an intense, lightning-paced legal thriller set against the backdrop of the high-stakes horse racing world.

When lawyers Michael Knight and Lex Devlin agree to defend a jockey accused of murdering a fellow jockey during a race at Boston's Suffolk Downs, they think that Michael's expertise in the machinations of the horse racing game will serve them well. But when a personal attachment to the murdered jockey thrusts Michael and Lex into the middle of a violent conflict between Boston's Irish mafia and remnants of the terrorist branch of the Irish Republican Army, the stakes become dangerously high.

Caught in the crosshairs of a raging and deadly battle, Michael and Lex soon find that the ruthlessness of these combatants knows no bounds. As they uncover layer after layer of deception in the seamier side of horse racing, Michael and Lex find themselves on the fast track to peril. The more Michael and Lex know, the more dangerous they become to the gangs.

As their investigation hurtles forward, Michael and Lex face increasingly poor odds. Their lives—and the lives of those closest to them—are in grave danger. These gangs will show no mercy in their quest to put an end to this threat: kidnapping, extortion, and murder are the tools of the trade for these violent criminals.

As an intense battle of jockeying for control explodes between Boston and Ireland, Michael and Lex will need both speed and endurance—because this race is a matter of life or death.

According to Lisa Scottoline, New York Times best-selling author of Save Me, “From its characters who go straight to the heart, to its intriguing settings, to its plot with more jolting twists than a Boston Street, Black Diamond takes you on a non-stop ride that keeps you gripping the wheel."
