Educational Strategy, Governance, and Curriculum Specialist Brings Valuable Experience in Academic Leadership

Henley-Putnam University is proud to announce the appointment of Michael J. Hillyard, a dedicated higher-education professional, to its board of directors.

With more than fifteen years of advisory and consulting experience in education and seven years as a U.S. Marine Corps Officer, Mike Hillyard’s expertise spans a broad range of areas. Hillyard previously served as President of the University of St Augustine, President of Rockwell University, Provost of the American Public University System, and Dean of American Military University. He has served on the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Career College Advisory Board, as an institutional representative for the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, and as an accreditation team chair for the Distance Education and Training Council. Dr. Hillyard’s work has proven vital in implementing and institutionalizing a dramatic expansion of purpose across many organizations.

In addition to his extensive experience in curriculum development and strategic restructuring, Dr. Hillyard has played a prominent role in public policy initiatives. He has worked closely with the Departments of Education, Justice, and Agriculture as well as U.S. Congressional members and staffs to advance educational growth.
