Dorset based Oakpark Alarms (http://www.oakpark.co.uk) has been appointed as the south of England agent for a non intrusive fire extinguishing system, DSPA (Dry Sprinkler Powder Aerosol). This innovative approach to fire control reduces property damage caused by alternative extinguishing methods, is not harmful to humans, unlike some gases, and does not leave water damage.
Developed in Holland, the DSPA system is used by fire brigades, in the engine compartments of buses and heavy goods vehicles, marine applications, and in switchgear rooms. It is ideal for buildings which have a control room, boiler room, paint shop, computer suite, or any other area of risk, such as an integral garage in a home.
DSPA works by knocking the flames down through a chemical reaction. The completely dry process can be activated electronically, thermally, or manually, and leaves a non-conductive and non-corrosive residue which can be easily vacuumed up. It requires no pipe work or pressure, and can be fitted easily, either at the building commissioning stage or retrospectively. The system, which has been in use in several countries around the world, acts volumetrically reaching those difficult corners where fire can take hold.
Oakpark Alarms Managing Director Jeff Pearce explains why he chose this product to add to his range of alarm and fire prevention services. “I had been looking for something to meet the needs of premises which required fire protection, but without the damage and disruption of conventional methods. I believe the DSPA system represents a very real advance in preventing fire damage, in places it was previously difficult to detect. It has been proved in a huge range of applications, and makes a natural addition to our product portfolio”.
