For the first time, there is a math curriculum tailored to the individual needs of today’s student and designed specifically for the touch technology of iPad. Elevated Math, an educational app for the iPad with lessons covering place value, estimation, large digit addition all the way through Algebra I (two years worth of math instruction!), is now available for download through Apple’s iTunes store.

With the hands-on uniqueness of the iPad platform, students can now be more engaged than ever, learning at their own pace and moving on with no gaps. This is education with fingertip precision. And built within the attractive animation, voiceovers, and lesson landscape of the Elevated Math app is each student’s personal whiteboard for working out their own individual math problems.

Says Lewis Hall, developer of the app: “We know the US education system has been struggling, and other countries are surpassing America in math instruction. We believe that Elevated Math provides an answer to our national problem. Twenty experts wrote and edited the 173 lessons so as to increase test scores, bring math learning to a higher conceptual level, and prepare our kids for advanced level math classes.”

Downloading the app is free and comes with two complimentary lessons and one complimentary career video. Remaining lessons can be purchased for as little as $1.45 each. Access the app via the iTunes store here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/elevated-math/id435995971?mt=8

When Apple introduced the iPad, Lewis Hall and Elevated Lab Press acquired the rights to adapt the award-winning BestQuest math lessons for this device. Gleaning the feedback from teachers who have used these programs, Hall and Maryscott (Scotti) Glasgow re-edited, revised and updated the lessons, adding enhancements, such as a whiteboard on which to work out problems, assessment tests, and over 15,000 interactions to give the student more immediate feedback. Together with the technology in the iPad, these enhanced lessons result in an educational tool that is unsurpassed in quality and teaching effectiveness.

There are approximately 120+ hours of instruction in the Elevated Math App with 70 hours of quality animation, by far the largest content-based app that Apple has in its store.

Lessons are grouped into the five math standards per The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (numbers and operations, geometry, measurement, algebra, data analysis and probability). Also, top college entrance exam tutors have bundled specific lessons deemed highly relevant for raising SAT and ACT test scores.

Included in the app are a series of career-oriented live-action videos that answer the frequent question: “Why do we need to learn this stuff?” These 20 documentaries focus on individuals who are using math in their jobs and include a jazz musician, a stunt pilot, an animator, a landscape architect, a chocolatier, and fifteen others.
