Diediker challenges the way viewers interpret his paintings with varied tones of the color blue.

Blue Rain Gallery is proud to announce an arresting new show of paintings with Utah based painter, Sean Diediker. The Blue Series will be on exhibit June 3 – 25, 2011 at the Blue Rain Gallery in Santa Fe, NM with an artist reception scheduled for Friday, June 3rd from 5 – 7p.m.

Diediker calls on the focused power of a single color to construct painterly portraits that clearly set a mood: “Blue allows for the evocation of particular emotions,” says Diediker. “Tone affects perception on a subconscious level that changes how the viewer sees and understands the subject.” The series draws from the unique qualities of the color blue to capture the climax of still moments and create consistency in a diverse body of work. His use of painterly application and color ultimately create portraits that become more important than the individual he is painting. The Blue Series represents the most recent, and perhaps the most potent manifestation of Diediker’s innovative approach to mark-making and a visually arresting celebration of color. Do not miss this exciting achievement in portraiture and figurative painting!
