Transferring data via wireless at the same rates as fiber is now a reality. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Industry Canada (IC) have both approved the A060-Mini Radio, from Athena Wireless Communication, Inc., for public sale. They are now available through Athena’s sales channel, and will soon be solving data-transfer and backhaul problems for mobile internet users and wireless operators all over the world.

The A060-Mini Radio has been awaiting the stamp of approval from these and other regulatory boards. Now with the FCC and IC’s thumbs-up, Athena is immediately prepared to move forward with sales in the US and Canada, and Europe’s CE standards will follow soon allowing for overseas delivery as well. This powerful new technology will be available on an OEM basis through Athena’s sales channel.

With the A060-Mini, operators of wireless telecom networks will now have an incredibly practical, flexible, and economical solution for present and impending backhaul and data-transfer quandaries. At 7” X 7” X 3” (including its 37dBi flat panel antenna), the unit takes up very little space, but its capacity and performance is very powerful. The all-digital A060-Mini Radio is easy to install and maintain. It has a multi-gigabit capacity that will eliminate any need for fiber cable, and its performance is quite fiber-like when handling cellular backhaul.

Telecommunications providers and businesses will quickly see a major increase in backhaul data rates once they’ve purchased and installed this all-digital radio. It is much more affordable than fiber optic solutions, and much more flexible as well. If one wants to move, for instance, fiber optic cable cannot be taken out of the ground whereas with this radio, one can reinstall it wherever it is the most convenient, and move it to other locations whenever.

This millimeter wave technology has promised to take full advantage of open-mesh configurations, adding tremendous backhaul capacity to base stations, small-cells, picocells and metrocells, as well as providing solutions to eliminate network dead zones. The A060-Mini may now be purchased and installed in the U.S. and Canada thanks to the respective approval granted by the FCC and the IC. “The doors are open, and the shelves are stocked,” states Arizona-based Athena’s CEO Eduardo Tinoco. “Seeing how mobile internet traffic is projected to double each year for the next few years, more and more local networks and wireless operators will be turning to the A060-Mini. This is completely understandable, considering the flexibility, long-term viability, and relative low cost of our product.”
