Booming Australia Looks to UK for Workers

Demand for workers in Australia is so high that the Australian government is contacting immigration consultancies in the UK - including Global Visas - to find the skills they need.

Australian Government representatives have contacted worldwide immigration consultancy Global Visas for help finding skilled workers to fill positions in Australia.

Global Visas can confirm our UK-based immigration consultants have been contacted by the Australian Government for help recruiting skilled foreign workers. A booming economy and low unemployment mean Australia must look overseas for the skills and experience it needs.

Today the Australian Tax Office (ATO) asked Global Visas for help finding UK nationals who would like to apply for an Australia visa to work in one of several areas of expertise.

“The Australian Tax Office, based in Canberra, has asked me to put some feelers out to determine whether you are aware of any clients who have the capabilities the ATO is seeking and who may be interested in Employer Sponsorship (under the RSMS). To assist you in the process, they have outlined below some of the skills they are seeking that have been difficult to source in the local labour market,” the Australian government said in its correspondence.

The following skills were listed as shortage occupations:

  •     data acquisition and management
  •     risk and information management
  •     active compliance
  •     forensic accounting, investigations and intelligence
  •     accountancy
  •     auditing
  •     information and communication technology
  •     business analysis
  •     transfer pricing
  •     international taxation; and
  •     superannuation

Global Visas is more than happy to work with the Australian Government to meet all its immigration needs.

The opportunistic move by Australia comes as UK austerity measures continue to cut jobs, and British workers struggle amid high unemployment.

Global Visas founder Liam Clifford said the Australia's raid on UK workers reflected the contrasting economic fortunes of the two countries:

“Australia has a surplus of jobs and is actively promoting immigration. But high unemployment in the UK has forced the British Government to reduce immigration by capping numbers and introducing tighter restrictions. Australia is crying out for skilled workers while the UK is sending them away.”

Global Visas is the world’s leading immigration consultancy, with offices in countries across the globe. Our immigration experts can assist with relocation to any destination, and they are on standby at all times to provide a FREE visa assessment.
