Kars-R-Us Announces Donated Car Values Up 20% Over 2010

Higher demand for used cars, plus higher prices for salvage cars, yields more money for charities.

Lisa Frank, Vice President of Kars-R-Us, wants to insure every donated car is sold for top dollar. Lisa says, “We once transported a Porsche across three States to insure it was sold at an auction that did extra promotions for this collector car. They were able to sell it for $20,000!” Of course most donated cars are not worth $20,000, but on a day to day basis Lisa looks at every donated vehicle to determine where to sell it for top dollar.

“We prefer to send every car to an Independent Auction, but If we can get more for the charity by sending a car to one of the National Auto Auction Chains, or directly to a Salvage Company, that’s what we do. Our goal is to get the most out of each and every donation”.

As a direct result of Lisa’s “hands-on” approach, Kars-R-Us announced that: “The sale price for the average donated car sold in 2011 is up 20% over 2010”.

“Getting the best value for every donation is really what Kars-R-Us is all about”, President Michael Irwin explains. “Our Company goal is simple: To provide each donor with the best possible donation experience, while generating the highest possible return for our charity clients”.

Prior to starting KRU, Michael managed car donation programs for 12 years, and Lisa for 11 years. They could see that low returns from the sales and high fund raising costs were eating away at the money sent to the charities. That’s when they started Kars-R-Us.

By working with a combination of independently owned auctions, national chains, and companies that buy cars for scrap or salvage, Lisa said: "We are able to accept almost 100% of the vehicles offered for donation, and to maximize the return to the charity on each and every one".

But the sale price of the donated vehicles and vessels is only part the equation for a successful car donation program. "Having operators available to quickly answer donor calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a strong emphasis on Customer Service is another critical part of making our car donation programs work".

Combining low fundraising overhead, high donor service, and high net returns from the auctions, Kars-R-Us was able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for their charity clients in 2010. Michael and Lisa agree that: “Our goal for 2011 is to raise even more money for charity through our managed car donation programs!”
