SonicSurg Innovations, LLC, a development stage company that will commercialize products for the orthopaedic upper-extremity surgical market, announced today that it recently closed on an initial equity offering totaling nearly $1 million.

With prototypes of its first product called Trigger Tome™ nearing completion, use of proceeds will be directed primarily toward sales and marketing.

Company founder, Brian M. Jurbala, M.D., is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon in private practice who specializes in sports medicine and upper extremity procedures. Dr. Jurbala completed his undergraduate work in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry at Penn State University in 1990. He graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in 1994 and attended medical fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, and Western Pennsylvania Hand and Trauma Center.

Dr. Jurbala’s Trigger Tome™ instrument will offer a simple, office-based solution designed to correct a condition that affects hundreds of thousands of patients each year in the U.S. called “stenosing tenosynovitis” or “trigger finger”. By moving the procedure from out-patient hospital facilities to the physician’s office, patients and insurance payers are expected to recognize significant cost savings, and the patient and physician will benefit from shortened treatment time and convenience.

With an experienced management team in place, the Company plans to begin domestic commercialization of the Trigger Tome™ over the next few months. A second proprietary product is already in development and additional complimentary products are planned for future release.
