Clean Up Activities Sweep Through MacArthur Park for “World Environment Day”

As June 5th saw the celebration and anniversary of World Environment Day, “I Clean LA” and “The Way to Happiness” conducted their second successful wide-scale clean-up at Los Angeles’ iconic landmark of MacArthur Park.

World Environment Day and scores of volunteers organized by “I Clean LA” and “The Way to Happiness” swept through Los Angeles’ iconic MacArthur Park not only to help keep the park clean but also to raise awareness to safeguard and improve the environment. Volunteers of all ages, nationalities and different community groups turned out to join in the campaign on World Environment Day.

Rallying the volunteers was President of “I Clean LA,” Ignacio Barsottelli an environmentalist with 23 years of experience and two awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency stated, “This was another successful activity with “The Way to Happiness” on the occasion of World Environment Day. This is our second large activity here at MacArthur Park and through this campaign and activities we continue to create environmental awareness throughout the Los Angeles area with thanks to our volunteers and media who have helped convey the importance of taking care of the environment.”

Free copies “The Way to Happiness” ( booklet were available for those at the park to help raise awareness through precept number 12 of the booklet - “Safeguard and Improve Your Environment,” where its author L. Ron Hubbard stated: “Care of the planet begins in one’s own front yard. It extends through the area one travels to get to school or work.” “…There are many things one can do to help take care of the planet. They begin with the idea that one should. They progress with suggesting to others they should.” “The Way to Happiness” is a guide that contains 21 precepts to help people make the right choices that will lead to happiness. It has been translated into 94 languages and 79 million copies have been distributed in 138 countries.

“I Clean LA” is a chapter of "I Clean America" founded by Ignacio Barcottelli ( which has chapters in El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the United States and soon to be in Guatemala. “I Clean America” is a non-profit organization with the goal of bringing about awareness on environmental issues as well as educating and encouraging communities to clean and take care of the environment. “I Clean America” was established by Ignacio Barsottelli who has been active across the United States and Latin America in cleaning up rivers, lakes and parks with the purpose of raising awareness and safeguarding and improving the environment.
