Dympol has teamed up with multi-platinum rock act Switchfoot; Red Light Management; and surf, skate, and music lifestyle apparel brand Hurley to generate engagement and goodwill while raising money for StandUp For Kids, a volunteer outreach organization dedicated to helping at-risk youth. Switchfoot Bro-Am is an annual weekend of activities that benefit San Diego area chapters of StandUp For Kids and includes a free surf contest/beach concert.

Fans purchasing tickets to the exclusive June 16 Auction Night Soiree are invited by Dympol’s Charitable Checkout application to add a donation for StandUp For Kids to the shopping cart. In return for giving, fans get exclusive unreleased (Switchfoot side-project) Fiction Family downloads and digital gift cards from Hurley. Fans also get publicly thanked by the band on their Facebook walls. Lead event sponsor Hurley committed over $100,000 worth of gift card incentives for the campaign. Concurrently, Switchfoot, Hurley and several other participants have deployed instances of the Facebook version of the Charitable Checkout app on their respective pages. During the first week of activity, over 5% of users that found the app on Facebook, and over 20% of fans that encountered the app during checkout, made a donation and activated their Hurley gift cards. Moreover, an estimated total of over 100,000 likes, comments, posts, and tweets have mentioned Hurley, successfully speaking directly to the brand’s target audience in a meaningful, memorable and measureable way:

For example, Facebook user Richmond V. commented, “Pretty freakin cool of Hurley to team up with you guys like that.” and Kim G. proclaimed, “I just purchased my tickets for the Belly Up after party and was able to donate some extra [money] to an AWESOME cause...it was simple and I got a gift card too!”
