Credit Union Awards Five Scholarships To Support Local Students

These students are a wonderful testament to the kind of leaders we can expect to guide our community to its bright future.

Generations Federal Credit Union has announced the winners of its 2011 Future Leader Scholarship program. Each of the five scholarship recipients from across the community will receive $2,500.00 for tuition and expenses as they pursue their education.

The 2011 Future Leader Scholarship recipients are: Tiffany Brown (St. Mary’s University), Anthony Castro (Texas A&M University – College Station), Jazmin Garcia (The University of Texas at San Antonio), Samantha Gonzalez (Cornell University) and Loren Torres (Our Lady of the Lake University).

The Generations Federal Credit Union Future Leader Scholarship is designed to recognize students whose activities, be they academic, religious or civic, will better the community and citizenship of San Antonio and its surrounding areas.

“Generations has a long history of giving back to our community, so we wanted to use the Future Leader Scholarship program to support students who, through their education, will continue with this tradition by making our community a better place for everyone,” said Tim Haegelin, Generations CEO and president. “These students are a wonderful testament to the kind of leaders we can expect to guide our community to its bright future.”

Future Leader Scholarship applicants can be graduating high school seniors, current undergraduate students, graduate students, doctoral, post-doctoral and/or continuing education, trade school and vocational school students. The scholarships may be used for any educational or educational-related expenses the student may incur.

Generations will begin accepting applications for the 2012 Future Leadership Scholarship program in the fall.
