BEI and the Austin-Weston Center for Cosmetic Surgery (Austin-Weston) have announced that BEI has been selected to provide managed IT services for Austin-Weston. The relationship commenced in February 2011 and has already resulted in a more efficient and productive practice.
Austin-Weston is one of the leading and most innovative cosmetic surgery practices both in its DC-area location and in its field. With three board-certified physicians and 35 employees at its 11,000 square foot facility in Reston, VA, Austin-Weston uses five different software applications to provide unparalleled patient care. Over time these applications have become more sophisticated and interrelated. Austin-Weston requires high-availability from these applications to provide the level of service that their patients expect. Phyllis Chorazy, the Chief Operating Officer of Austin-Weston, was spending too much time managing IT issues. Ms. Chorazy commented, “Our practice is centered on our patients, so any extra time that I have to spend on internal issues takes away from that focus. I knew something had to change.” After soliciting proposals from a number of vendors, Ms. Chorazy selected BEI.
“BEI had a superior combination of IT support capabilities and in-depth experience and knowledge of the healthcare environment,” Ms. Chorazy noted. “I needed someone who could take care of all the IT issues, work with our application vendors and make sure we were complying with healthcare IT regulations such as the HIPAA Security Rule.”
The first thing BEI did was to stabilize and improve the underlying network infrastructure to increase reliability, provide better disaster recovery and allow staff to access the applications remotely. BEI also moved Austin-Weston’s email from an internal server to Microsoft’s Exchange Online platform, resulting in upgraded email features, decreased support requirements and improved reliability. BEI’s support also includes its premium level Guardian Healthcare Managed Services, which means that for a fixed fee each month Austin-Weston gets unlimited support for their IT requirements. Ms. Chorazy has been very pleased with the results: “The upgrades and support have been wonderful. Our network is functioning much better, and our employees are more productive. From the support standpoint, we can just call BEI up and they deal with our problems as they come in. They are even on call when we have our periodic open houses for new clients outside of normal business hours. I would have to say that the ‘face lift’ they gave our network has been quite successful – and that’s something we know a lot about!”
