Jet2holidays launch new brochure for Winter 2011/12 and Summer 2012 with extra holiday deals to mainland Spain
June is a great time to visit Spain notably because the sunshine destination is just coming into peak season but also because of a busy schedule of events.
Benidorm, one of the most popular destinations favoured by Brits, isn’t the first place that springs to mind when looking for cultural events in Spain, but this month sees two of the more interesting local customs take place.
Plus, holidaymakers can now benefit from greater choice and flexibility following the launch of Jet2holidays’ new brochure for Winter 2011/12 and Summer 2012.
Taking Thing Back to Traditional Values
In the middle of the month the Romeria de la Virgen del Rocio takes place amongst much fanfare. This is a traditional Andalucian festival and provides a timely reminder about the local customs that still exist in the resort.
Although much of Benidorm is dominated by modern hotel complexes, this event manages to strip things back a little and, using some of the visually stunning landmarks like the bullring, gives a sense of past Spain.
There are horse parades and fairs to witness and visit as many of the locals don traditional garb too.
A Surreal and Unique Atmosphere
Towards the end of the month, things take on a slightly more surreal edge. The Hogueras de San Juan, which translates as the bonfires of St. John, introduces holidaymakers to papier-mache figures before watching them burn on a giant bonfire.
This is one of the most culturally important events in Benidorm as it brings the community together, creating a welcoming atmosphere in the town.
The papier-mache models are made by locals and placed around the town for several days in the build-up to the bonfire and ensuing party. The festivities contribute to a unique atmosphere that isn’t usually found in the town.
“Even bigger and better than ever”
Holidaymakers, keen to discover these events in Benidorm, will have a greater choice of holiday deals to choose from next year following the announcement of the Jet2holidays brochure.
The new brochure sees the launch of ten new resorts as part of the offering from Jet2holidays.
One of these resorts is on mainland Spain, giving holidaymakers an additional choice when planning their next break. Managing director of Jet2holidays, Steve Heapy, commented on the new brochure. He said:
“The new brochure is even bigger and better than ever. As well as expanding our family offering with the introduction of two new categories of holidays, we’ve also boosted our Adult Choice, Late ’N’ Lively and Luxe ranges.
“Fifty six of the new 72 hotels we’ve introduced are all inclusive properties – we’re finding more than ever in these tough economic times that people want to know the exact cost of their holiday upfront so they can budget accordingly.”
