The wine making industry on Madeira is set for a new direction following recent announcement and holidays to the island are released for 2012 by Jet2holidays
The Blandy Group has regained control of the Madeira Wine Company in their bicentennial after 22 years under Symington Family Estates. It will mark a new direction for the famous wine industry on the island.
This could therefore make 2012 a great year to visit Madeira on holiday and Jet2holidays.com has this week (2nd June 2011) announced that holiday packages to the Portuguese island are now available to book from Leeds Bradford and Manchester.
Furthermore, anyone making their booking of a holiday to Madeira before 4th July 2011 will receive £100 off, a great incentive to put towards some local wine.
Well Respected Product
Madeira wine enjoys a celebrated reputation amongst wine experts as well as visitors to the island. It was Madeira wine that was sipped by the 55 signatories who signed the American Declaration of Independence on 4th July 1776 and Sir Winston Churchill was partial to a drop of the stuff as well.
This tradition of wine making is now back under Blandy management. Speaking after the announcement, Paul Symington, chairman of Symington Family Estates, commented:
“It is fitting that the Blandy’s bicentennial should be marked by their re-acquisition of a majority holding in their family’s historic island business”
Lots of Fun
Holidaymakers can also visit The Old Blandy’s Wine Lodge, which is located in the heart of Funchal, for a chance to learn about this historic brand of wine and even sample a few of the latest bottles. The wine is no longer produced there but numerous interactive shows are put on, providing plenty of entertainment.
It is a must visit attraction for anyone who is a fan of wine but also for people keen to discover more about one of the local customs.
A Great Holiday Deal
Jet2holidays.com launch of package deals to Madeira for 2012 coincides with the announcement of sister company, Jet2.com’s decision to make flights to the island available from Manchester and Leeds Bradford.
Package deals begin from £343 with an additional £100 saving for any bookings made prior to 4th July 2011.
