Nine million visitors to Spain in first three months of 2011 as announce new route from Glasgow to Murcia for 2012

As peak season approaches for many of the popular holiday destinations, Spain is already enjoying a noticeable increase in visitors this year.

Information from The Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade puts the number of visitors to Spain from January to March at 9million, a 2.9% increase on the same three month period the year before.

One area contributing to this rise in tourism, which is expected to continue, is the Costa Blanca. The area, which forms part of the Costa belt along Spain’s southern coastline, has been basking in glorious sunshine and temperatures are set to soar further during peak season.

Meeting a Growing Demand

As a result of growing demand for holidays to Spain, has this week (31st May 2011) announced a new route from their recently launched Glasgow base.

From 29th March 2012, holidaymakers will be able to take off from Glasgow, heading to Murcia, which unlocks all of the many wonderful resorts that the Costa Blanca has to offer.

Unlocking the ‘White Coast’

One of the key features of the Costa Blanca resorts is the choice and range of beaches. It is for this reason that the area has been nicknamed the ‘White Coast’. Over 150 miles of soft white sand contrast beautifully with the clear blue sea to create a picturesque holiday memory.

This has made it a choice location for family holidays. Calpe, in particular, is a resort that is enjoying more interest so far this year; although it isn’t usually lacking interest. Calpe is a popular choice because of its quieter status than some of the busier resorts like Benidorm but also because of the Penon de Ifach Rock.

This imposing rock stands a magnificent 332metres above the town and beaches and is often found taking centre stage on postcards and tourist snaps. The Penon is also worth a visit because it is home to a nature reserve and allows visitors to scale its heights, unlocking some impressive views.

Even More to the Costa Blanca

There are many other resorts available in the Costa Blanca and plenty of golf courses, perhaps another reason why more people are visiting the area this year.

The new flights from Glasgow to Murcia from start at £29.99 one way and include taxes. The flights are available to buy now.
