Texas Tennis Open to Bring International Field of Players to Metroplex

This event will provide tennis fans of all ages with the opportunity to see some of their favorite players up-close and personal as this international-level of women’s professional tennis comes back to the Metroplex for the first time since the mid 1980s.

Individual tickets and sponsor ticket packages are on sale now for the 2011 Texas Tennis Open, which will feature many of today’s top WTA professional tennis stars including Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium, Alisa Kleybanova of Russia, Shuai Peng of China, and Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Melanie Oudin. This inaugural event, which is part of the WTA Tour, is considered an ‘International Level’ tournament with prize money of $220,000, and features a singles draw of 32 players and a doubles draw of 16 teams. The tournament, which will play host to an international field of players, will take place August 20 through August 27, 2011 at the Hilton DFW Lakes Hotel in Grapevine, Texas.

“We are very pleased to bring women’s top-tier professional tennis back to the Metroplex,” said Chris Giordano, Texas Tennis Open tournament director. “This event will provide tennis fans of all ages with the opportunity to see some of their favorite players up-close and personal as this international-level of women’s professional tennis comes back to the Metroplex for the first time since the mid 1980s.”

In addition, discounted ticket pricing is being offered to United States Tennis Association (USTA) members and Texas Competitors of Dallas (TCD) members through a ticket promotion that runs through June 22.
