Litigation Attorney Gabe Talton of the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin planned and led a legal clinic at the Hispanic Liaison of Chatham County (El Viculo Hispano), a Hispanic community center located in Siler City, on May 11. The event was held in conjunction with Mick Frickey, a former intern at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin who is now working as a criminal defense attorney in Siler City.

In addition to providing legal advice, Gabe Talton also led a group discussion about going to college with the center’s youth group.

“It was a great opportunity for me to see first-hand the benefits of organizing a local community for power and protection,” Gabe Talton said.

Sarah Long, victims coordinator at The Hispanic Liaison of Chatham County (El Viculo Hispano) saw great value in the event.

“Many of our clients have limited access to lawyers because of financial and language barriers. Being able to have Mr. Talton and Mr. Frickey come and talk to our clients in a space where they already feel comfortable was an invaluable service and we look forward to them doing another clinic in the future,” she said.

Talton created the event as a way to establish a relationship with the community center and support its work.
