On June 9th, The Danish American Society will award Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark the Person of the Year Award 2011 at The Museum of Natural History in New York City.
Since 1959, The Danish American Society has celebrated outstanding individuals for their extraordinary accomplishments and contributions to their community. Past recipients include Victor Borge, Walter Cronkite, Peter Martins and Ambassador John Loeb Jr. This year's recipient, Her Majesty Queen Magrethe II of Denmark, has throughout her reign worked tirelessly to promote Danish art, design and dance both at home and abroad.
"We are honored that Her Majesty the Queen has accepted The Danish American Society's Person of the Year award" said Lisa Resling Halpern, president of The Danish American Society. " Her Majesty's unwavering dedication to promote Denmark and it's culture is an inspiration to us all." Lisa Resling Halpern is a long time supporter of Danish Ballet and Danish Culture and is honored to be a part of such an exciting celebration of her Danish heritage.
The Danish American Society looks forward to honoring her Majesty Queen Magrethe II at an exclusive Royal Gala Dinner Dance on June 9th, 2011 at the American Museum of Natural History.The evening's events will include performances by the Tivoli Ballet with costumes designed by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and musical performances by Opera Star Madeleine Kristoffersson, Dance Music by the Nikolaj Hess Band and a special vocal performance by Danish Dancing with the Stars finalist and recording artist Malena Belafonte. "The arrangement will be a tribute to the Danes who explored the world and spread our culture to the City that never sleeps", says Malena Belafonte who is honored to be performing at this exceptional Gala.
