Capponi as a senior vice president, announced Philip G. Newton, the company's president and chief executive officer.
Capponi is an accomplished professional with more than twenty-five years of experience in full-service environmental engineering and health and safety management and more than a decade in senior management at environmental consulting companies. He specializes in program management, project execution and strategy development, and has been responsible for account and relationship management for Fortune 500 companies. He will be responsible for leading GaiaTech's relationship management and project execution strategy.

Capponi joined GaiaTech from Atlanta, Ga.-based O'Brien & Gere Engineers, Inc., where he was a senior vice president managing operations, establishing and growing offices in new markets, and supervising large-scale environmental and ecological programs, including site investigations and remediation on major industrial sites, multimedia compliance and permitting, brown-field redevelopment and sustainability projects. Capponi will split his time between GaiaTech's headquarters in Chicago and its regional office in Atlanta.
Capponi, 48, is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Society of Marketing Professionals; he also serves on the Advisory Boards at Berry College, the Georgia Institute of Technology's Building Construction Program, and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce for Bio Science and Technology. He earned his MS in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and earned a BS in Environmental Science and a BA in Environmental Planning, both at Villanova University.
