InFocus and Vidtel announce a high-quality cloud video conferencing solution that eliminates cost and interoperability barriers to allow widespread SMB adoption.

The partnership between InFocus and Vidtel enables AV and collaboration resellers to offer an end-to-end visual collaboration solution that fits within almost any budget.

InFocus® Corp. and Vidtel today announced the first major partnership between a digital display technology leader and a cloujavascript:void(0);d-based video conferencing service provider to deliver high-quality, any-to-any video connectivity to small-medium businesses (SMBs). Introduced today, the InFocus Mondopad is a giant HD wall tablet that combines intuitive touch collaboration applications with Vidtel’s any-to-any cloud video conferencing service to offer a disruptively priced all-in-one collaboration display.

For the first time, companies of any size will be able to access high-quality HD video conferencing previously relegated to only the largest organizations. Other video conferencing systems require internal technical expertise and often leave customers facing high upfront infrastructure costs and interoperability problems. Vidtel’s innovative service removes these burdens enabling SIP, H.323 and proprietary VC systems to work together. In addition to eliminating the need to purchase and manage video conferencing servers and other infrastructure, Vidtel securely traverses corporate firewalls to eliminate the “fancy intercom” problem that plagues many video conferencing deployments.

“The partnership between InFocus and Vidtel enables AV and collaboration resellers to offer an end-to-end visual collaboration solution that fits within almost any budget,” reported Ira M. Weinstein, senior analyst and partner, Wainhouse Research. “The cloud-based nature of the Vidtel offering means that SMBs can enjoy high quality videoconferencing without having to invest in back-end technology and experienced support resources.”

Vidtel’s service enables instantaneous connectivity between a wide variety of video devices—traditional video conference room systems, laptops, video phones, tablets and smartphones—without IT network infrastructure expense to the customer. The InFocus Mondopad displays all meeting participants together, regardless of the different video conferencing systems they are using. Local and remote Mondopad users can also share, view and control presentations from their tablet, laptop or smartphone.

“Key business decisions are made face-to-face. Vidtel’s innovative cloud video conferencing service instantly brings people together whether they connect using free consumer video conferencing services or high-end enterprise-level telepresence systems,” said Mark Perini, InFocus VP/GM of visual solutions. “Vidtel solves the major hurdles of cost, complexity and interoperability that put visual collaboration out of reach for most businesses.”

Offering a 55-inch full-HD 1080p (1920x1080) LCD display, and designed for multi-touch from the ground up, Mondopad changes the way people interact with information and each other. Mondopad’s combination of HD video conferencing and touch presentation, collaboration and annotation applications puts an end to mind-numbing, one-way presentations and meetings.

“Mondopad is a compelling all-in-one collaboration tablet offering everything companies need to visually collaborate with anyone, anywhere,” said Scott Wharton, CEO of Vidtel. “Small companies can get high-quality video conferencing without major upfront costs and complexities, while large companies can easily integrate Mondopad into their existing video conferencing environment.”

InFocus and Vidtel will showcase Mondopad during InfoComm11, taking place June 15-18, 2011 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Mondopad will be commercially available in July 2011, and will be delivered through InFocus channel partners including managed service providers and ProAV resellers.

Pricing
Mondopad lists at $5,949 USD with video conferencing services starting at less than $49 per connection per month.
