CapLinked's New "Suggestions" Tool Helps Users Leverage their LinkedIn Connections

CapLinked, the LinkedIn-meets-SalesForce for private investing, announced today the launch of its “Suggestions” tool which will integrate with users’ LinkedIn network, helping to maximize the value of their professional contacts.

“Suggestions” provides CapLinked users with the option to send out invitations for deals, recommendations or other business opportunities through LinkedIn’s messaging system and delivered as LinkedIn notifications. The “Suggestions” tool’s inherent value to users resides in its ability to easily identify the full scope of someone’s LinkedIn connections.    

For example, the modern-day entrepreneur often has roles with other companies as an investor or advisor. Furthermore, as users’ LinkedIn networks expand, easily identifying one’s connections has become more cumbersome. “Suggestions” serves to easily decipher the complex business relationships of each LinkedIn contact and group those contacts.

“Our new ‘Suggestions’ tool will give users the means to reach out to the right people for the right reasons,” said Eric Jackson CEO of CapLinked. “It enables both those who consider themselves ‘power LinkedIn users’—investors and broker dealers—and those who feel less connected to recognize the value of their professional network and extract more from it.”

The announcement marks the continued growth of CapLinked since its launch last year. The company has grown 350% this year and has approximately 10,000 users, representing 4,000 companies and 3,700 investors. The 320 deals currently on CapLinked represent nearly $1.5 billion of deal volume on the site.

CapLinked makes private investing easy, secure and social by providing a collaborative platform for entrepreneurs, private investors and advisors to network, manage a capital raise or asset sale, and exchange updates.

The private investment platform raised a $900K angel round in a February 2011 and is backed by a group of people who helped create and fund PayPal, Facebook and Linkedin: Peter Thiel, a technology entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist and co-founder of PayPal, Dave McClure founding partner of 500 Startups; Joe Lonsdale, co-founder of Palantir Technologies; Aman Verjee, CFO of Sonos; and David Anderson, managing partner of 7th Rig, and other individuals.

Eric Jackson, CEO, and Christopher Grey, CFO and COO, co-founded CapLinked in January 2010. Eric was PayPal’s first Senior Director of U.S. Marketing and served as interim VP of Marketing after acquisition by eBay in 2002. He also authored The PayPal Wars. Chris was a managing partner and co-founder of private equity firms Crestridge Investments and Third Wave Partners as well as a managing director for Emigrant Bank, which is the largest privately owned bank in the country. He has been involved as a principal or banker in over $6 billion of private investments during his career.
