Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) June 08, 2011
Edifecs™ today reiterated its support for early HIPAA 5010 testing efforts by encouraging healthcare organizations to take advantage of Edifecs5010™ Compliance Online—a free, cloud-based testing portal that enables healthcare organizations to register, conduct baseline testing and receive real-time testing results within a few seconds of receiving log-in credentials. Using Edifecs5010 Compliance Online, healthcare entities can ensure they are ready for the two National Days of Testing designated by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) for June 15 and August 24, 2011.
CMS organized each National Day of Testing to enable healthcare entities and their information trading partners (payers, providers, clearinghouses, and Medicare Administrative Contractors) to conduct joint dry runs of their claim submission transactions. The goal is to ensure all entities can avoid rejected claims and payment delays by complying with the January 1, 2012 deadline for switching to HIPAA 5010 standards.
Edifecs5010 Compliance Online is a cloud-based testing portal with testing and certification support for all HIPAA 5010 transactions. It provides guidelines in an easy-to-use format and includes a 5010 Comparison Manual that shows side-by-side comparisons of older standards and the new 5010 standard.
Healthcare entities conduct testing by uploading data files for validation against HIPAA 5010 standards. Edifecs returns the results in real-time, documenting any errors and providing instructions for correcting errors in easy-to-understand terms. Once the entity fixes the errors and re-tests the file, Edifecs confirms the entity’s data file is HIPAA 5010-compliant.
According to CMS, participating in the National Day of Testing is an important milestone for healthcare entities by affording them the opportunity to work with their trading partners to “test compliance efforts that are already underway with the added benefit of real-time help desk support and direct and immediate access to Medicare Administrative Contractors."
By using Edifecs5010 Compliance Online prior to a National Day of Testing, healthcare entities can ensure they comply with all transaction edits for 5010 as defined by the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) in its Strategic National Implementation Process (SNIP) Types 1-6. Then, on National Day of Testing, entities can focus on the more complex aspects of Medicare-specific edits when designated CMS resources are available.
“The final HIPAA 5010 deadline is only a few months away, and Edifecs is firmly committed to helping the healthcare industry meet this mandate as quickly and easily as possible,” said Sunny Singh, CEO of Edifecs. “Giving them an opportunity to test drive their 5010 data for free using Edifecs5010 Compliance Online is a concrete example of our investment and willingness to be a strategic partner.”
More than 1500 healthcare entities have already registered to use Edifecs5010 Compliance Online to validate and test their HIPAA 5010 data in advance of the National Day of Testing on June 15.
