For Memorial Day 2011, Bill Jacobs Cadillac - the premiere Cadillac dealer in Joliet, Illinois, and surrounding areas - took time off to honor those who gave all they had to their country. Instead of opening up and selling cars, the dealership remained closed with owners and other employees visiting local nursing homes to surprise and honor local veterans.

The sales professionals at Bill Jacobs Cadillac spent time honoring those who served their country in the past. On May 30, 2011 the doors at Bill Jacobs Cadillac were closed as owners and employees spent time with local Joliet heroes.

Instead of running car advertisement, the Cadillac dealership published photos of local veterans in the Herald-News newspaper. As mentioned, some of the veterans are living in local nursing homes, so the Bill Jacobs staff took the good times to them.

"This day wasn’t about selling cars or making money; it was important for our staff to be able to take the day and reflect on what is really important. We wanted to show our support for our local active military and veterans," said Brad Wise, general manager for Bill Jacobs Joliet.

Jeanne Jacobs, the wife of William Jacobs Senior; Cynthia Thrall, president of Bill Jacobs; and Brad Wise all brought flags and copies of the commemorative newspaper to veterans at Sunny Hill Nursing Home in Joliet, Illinois. They spent some time getting to know the people there who had served their country.

“It was amazing and extremely enjoyable to see the reaction and emotion of the men and women who had served our country and what it meant to them to be recognized,” Wise said. “Some of them said they felt like stars.”

At Bill Jacobs Cadillac - the leading Joliet, Illinois, Cadillac dealership - the professional sales team values the service many men and women have given to their country. They know that the US is the land of the free because of the brave men and women who did their part over the years.
