Chateau Pontet-Canet, the first Bordeaux Classified Growth to achieve biodynamic certification, released its 2010 Bordeaux futures price today. This is the first certified biodynamic vintage for the estate. The wine is available for purchase in standard and large-size format bottles from Millesima USA LLC.
"We have converted to biodynamics. It’s a choice. Why? Because we are looking for taste. And what interests me is the taste of each bunch," said Alfred Tesseron, owner of Pontet Canet. "This is why we have used no weed killer for over 10 years. We work our land like they used to in the past. We stand on ceremony, we plough, we remove the earth from the base of the vines, we attach the grafts, we earth back up behind...really in the old way."
The Chateau Pontet Canet 2010 vintage has receive top scores from the most critically acclaimed wine reviewers in the world.
"Their 2010 barrel sample was opaque black plum-purple, incredibly rich and dense to the nose with muted blackberry, black plum and boysenberry," said master of wine, Roger Bohmrich, general manager of Millesima USA LLC. "The wine exhibits fabulous concentration and a rigid, muscular frame, with restrained ripe, rich fruit qualities. The 2010 is a large-scaled, powerful wine which joins the series of consistently outstanding examples made at this property in recent vintages."
