Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 10, 2011
Little Independent, an online marketplace for sale items at independent retail stores, launched June 1, 2011. Founded by Lesley Tweedie, the owner of an independent bicycle retail store in Chicago, Little Independent aggregates sale merchandise from brick-and-mortar independent retail stores and offers it at a one-stop shop online.
By doing so, Little Independent seeks to solve two issues concurrently: 1) for independent store owners, it helps increase visibility for sale merchandise, and 2) it provides consumers with easy, convenient access to deals at the locally owned independent stores they value and like to patronize.
The concept, says Tweedie, was inspired by her experience as a store owner. “For weeks on end, I watched a lone, oversized bike helmet that wouldn’t sell at my shop. I thought, ‘if only I could get this out in front of more people’. I firmly believe we independent store owners need to band together to support each other, and there was really nothing else out there as convenient as Little Independent to help sell my sale merchandise.”
Beyond making its mission to promote independent retail, Little Independent also strives to be a proponent for today’s deal-seeking and treasure-hunting consumers. It connects the two in a friendly, accessible online format.
